Elkhart Proportional Tourney Continues

Monday, October 1, 2007

Roger Blaine reports...

Jim Wood outpointed Alan Wagner to take the lead in the Elkhart

Proportional chess tourney last night, Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007.  Wood won

the game with 2-hour time control to reach a total of 14 weighted points.

Mike Vidulich mashed Mike Timmons in an early game, then drew with Greg

Steele in a barnburner 90-minute game that went down to the final seconds.

Greg appeared headed for victory, but in the last scramble the pawns

disappeared and the material came out King + Knight vs. King = draw!

Tom Smith first drew, then beat Sam Elzerman, and Timmons drew Roger Blaine

in another late contest.  The slow-rated tournament will continue for two

more weeks.

ELKHART COUNTY CHESS CLUB -- Tuesdays 7-10 p.m. or so, First Congregational
