Roger Blaine reports....

ELKHART CHESS TOURNEY STARTS

Six players showed up for the Elkhart County Chess Club's USCF-rated

"Proportional" tournament on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007.   Jim Wood toppled Tom

Smith,  Alan Wagner zapped Sam Elzerman, and Greg Steele crunched Roger

Blaine, all in games with time controls of 90 minutes or more.

The tourney continues for the next 3 weeks.  You need not play in all the

rounds--come on and join us next Tuesday!

ELKHART COUNTY CHESS CLUB -- Tuesdays 7-10 p.m. or so, First Congregational

Church, 3rd & Marion St., downtown Elkhart.

KISTLER TOPS SOUTH BEND DOUBLE BLITZ

Les Kistler came out on top in the South Bend Chess Club's Double Blitz

tourney on Thursday night, Sept. 20, 2007.  He was not undefeated in the

5-minute games, however, as new competitor Solomon Egbeama and Zijo

Obradovic scored one win each against the leader.   Because of some late

arrivals and early departures, a complete round robin was not possible.

1. LES KISTLER             10-2

2. Solomon Egbeama       7-3

3. Zijo Obradovic             7-5

4. Mike Vidulich               5-3

5. Roger Blaine             2.5-5.5

6. Rainer Lange            0.5-5.5

7. Richard Medcalf           0-8

Welcome to new player Richard Medcalf, who bravely tried Speed Chess for

the first time.  Lonnie T., Reynolds Balmer, Jerry Rider, and Jim Perkins

played several non-timed games.

SOUTH BEND CHESS CLUB,  Thursdays 7-10 p.m. or so,  Meijer store, 5020 Grape

Rd., Mishawaka.
