The Indiana Invitational Championship is a six-player event to which Indiana residents can qualify via the following paths:

[1] Defending Invitational Champion
[2] Current Indiana Open State Champion
[3] Second Indiana finisher in last Open State Championship
[4] Top Indiana gradeschool player in last Open State Championship
[5] Top Indiana resident finisher in the previous year's Hoosier Chess Tour
[6] Highest-rated active Indiana chess player (classical time control activity in Indiana in past year)

Should an invitation be declined or the player already qualified, then the next highest rated active player shall be invited. In exigent circumstances, ISCA may fill a vacant spot as it chooses.
