Dennis Gogel, USCF Life Master and 6 time Indiana State Chess Champ returned to tnmt play at the Evansville Spring Open on April 11th. He said the tnmt was a test to see if he could play all day while quitting smoking (7 months in). Well, he went 4-0 to take 1st place and said he didn`t seem effected by not smoking. I have known Dennis for 40 plus years and have never met a more humble, honest and willing to help you with chess guy.

The tnmt had 18 players and in the end other prizes went to Andy Porter, top "A", Jeremy Craft and Tony Golike split top "B", Jeff Swan got top"C" and Nazir Karzay, James Ballard (Louisville) and Rich Weaver split top "D". I based prize fund on 16 so we were able to pay that and some more. Next tnmt in Evansville will be June 20th, the Evansville Summer Open. Check the ISCA website and the USCF on-line listing for details.
